Chicago on a budget

For Labor Day weekend, I decided to go into Chicago for the first time with my husband. Since we do have three kids we are a little tight on money. I was nervous about what we could do and still have a good time. I found this website, chicagofree.info. It gives snipits of all the free or discounted events going on. We planned our trip by it and had a pretty good time.
One thing that was a bit of a hassle was parking fees. There was no parking for anything less than 20 bucks and some lots went as high as $40. That was frustrating. Food could be expensive but I went by a website, www.foodieview.com/restaurants/chicago/best/budget.  This was a money saver too. We had to walk to all the places so we did not have to pay another parking but the walks were not bad.

  1. Mostly I like walking in Chicago...particularly down by the lake, and along the big avenues, or along the river...

Glad you took the trip...even with those parking fees.

  2. I visited Chicago for the first time this last weekend. It was a fun city to be in. I was lucky because I was visiting a friend who's in school there, and she was able to show me around. There was definitely a lot of walking involved, but I enjoyed it immensely.
